Offensive
Coordinatior/Receivers |
|
MIKE DANISCHEWSKY
|
7th year with MTW : 2
years with Lawrence Park Collegiate : 1 year with Lawrence Park
Prowlers : 2 years at York University |
Coach D returns for his
7th year as
offensive coordinator for the Wildcats.
2003 was a breakthrough season for the MTW
team and especially the offense. After
scoring 140 points in their initial season, the Wildcats scored 253, over
30 per game. The offense had
the #2 passing attack in the league, led by Ryan Clutterbuck who threw for
1562 yards and 13 touchdowns. All-stars
Kevin Logan (scholarship to
Lafayette
) and Ricky Clarke (returning for ’04) led the receiving corps.
Of the 337 yards of offense produced each
game 137 were on the ground. Leading
rusher Allistair Blair returns for what should be a breakthrough season.
Coach D coached receivers at
York
University
for two years (2001-02). Each
season, the offensive MVP was a receiver (Steve McKenzie and Ian DeCoteau).
Danischewsky also had the pleasure of coaching first round pick in
the CFL draft Brian Nugent (
Calgary
#9).
In 2003, Coach D was also a volunteer offensive assistant with the Toronto
Argonauts and will be with the club again in 2004.

Quarterbacks
Coach |
|
BOB RAINFORD |
3rd year with MTW : University of
Toronto : York University : Guelph University : Toronto Athletics
: Woburn Collegiate : Leacock Collegiate : Seneca College |
Coach
Rainford is a very experienced coach in all levels of football.
His career began with a 4 year stint at Seneca College from
1977 as QB's, Rec's and RB's coach culminating in a National
Championship in 1980 as Assistant Head Coach and Offensive
Coordinator. Coach Rainford spent the next three seasons as
Offensive Coordinator with Guelph University, University of
Toronto and York U respectively, before returning to the high
school ranks for the 1983, 84 and 85 seasons. In those three years
he OC'd Leacock to a finalist and semi-finalist appearance and a
Metro Bowl Championship with Woburn Collegiate in 1985. He
returned to U of T as QB's coach from 1989-1992 and from
1994-1996. The one year away from U of T in 1993, he won a
Championship as Offensive Coordinator for the Toronto Athletics of
the Mid-Continental Football League, a semi-professional North
American league. Since 1997 Coach Rainford has worked with U of T,
York and the Oshawa Hawkeye's of the Northern Football Conference
before joining MTW in 2005. |

Defensive Line
Coach |
|
STROUD GILPIN |
5th year with MTW : Northern
Secondary |
Coach
Gilpin will be entering his fifth year as defensive line coach
with the V'Cats. This former Cat played university ball at York U.
after graduating from Northern Secondary, where he continues to
coach in the fall. Having worked with Coach Prisco as a player and
coach for so many years, Coach Gilpin has a strong grasp and
understanding of the Wildcat defensive scheme and an ability to
communicate the technique that goes into making the defense work.
He brings a perfect mesh of verbal communication and demonstration
that makes him very popular amongst Wildcat players.
Michigan State bound defensive end J'Michael Deane made special
reference to Coach Gilpin in his farewell to the Wildcats: "My
D line Coach Stroud Gilpin taught
me a lot. He made me a better D Lineman. Thank you." |

Linebackers Coach |
|
ARI DOUMOURAS |
1st year with MTW |

Ari just completed his first
year coaching with the Wildcats at Special Teams Coordinator
and LB coach after playing 4 years in the program. Ari
started to play football in grade 9 at St. Michael’s College
School, where he played 4 years, starting every game for the
Kerry Blues and completing high school with a 41-1 record,
winning 4 division championships, (3 CISAA, 1 TDCAA) and
captained teams to Metro Bowls at the junior and senior
level. He began with the Wildcats in 2003 on the Junior
Varsity team and made an immediate impact on defence leading
the league in tackles and defensive points. He
also represented the Wildcats on the Eastern Conference
All-star team as a linebacker and was awarded the Junior MVP
award for the Wildcats as well as being a team captain. In
2004 he moved up to Varsity, playing with the likes of
Anthony Thomas and Mark Faria. His quick grasp of the
playbook allowed him to play immediately and started all 10
games for the Wildcats that season, including their first
playoff win and conference championship game. In 2005, he
captained the Wildcats to another conference championship,
losing disappointingly to the Mississauga Warriors. This was
the year he took a much larger role as a team leader the
team on the field as an extension of coach Prisco and was
selected as team MVP. 2006 saw Ari as the only defensive
captain and leading the team to their 4th
straight playoff appearance only to lose to the Toronto
Thunder in the first play-off game. Ari finished his
Varsity career starting a record 29 games going 18-11 with 2
playoffs wins and 3 playoff appearances, arguably the most
successful stretch in MTW history. In combination with his
high school and Wildcats experience, Ari played 1 year with
the McMaster Marauders and was defensive coordinator with
the Toronto Junior Argos. His natural leadership qualities,
understanding of defensive schemes and most importantly,
love of the game, lead him to coaching with the Wildcats
after he finished as a player.

Coach
Johnson joins the Wildcats for 2008 as Offensive Line Coach.

Football League champions in 2006. Coach Johnson has also
been offensive coordinator and assistant head coach for a
Bantam (under 17) program in the National Capital Amateur
Football Association (NCAFA) and, in 2003, was the offensive
line coach for a team of NCAFA all-stars that won a bronze
medal in the under 19 category of the Football Canada Cup. A
student of the game, Coach Johnson has been a guest coach of
CIS, OVFL, NCAFA Midget (under 19) and Montreal High School
all-star football programs, and has attended coaching

in Montreal, including four years as starter at offensive
tackle for the McGill University Redmen, two provincial
championship appearances with the Vanier Cheetahs of the
