Vice PresidentSponsorship, Aid and Recruiting John Prisco 10th year with MTW You can take John Prisco away from the Wildcats but you cant take the Wildcats out of John Prisco. Its in his blood. He was on the other end of Chuck Richardson's first phone call when MTW was just an idea so a few extra miles to Prisco's new home in Oakville will not be enough to keep him from having a significant impact on MTW growth in years to come. After a year off to acclimatize to his new home the former 8 year varsity head coach returns to MTW in an executive role and owner of the recruiting, fundraising and player aid portfolio's. "What you see now as MTW is as much a product of John's involvement with the program as it is anyone's", says Chuck Richardson, "his new role is a perfect fit based on his ability to relate with players and given his strengths in the business world." Just like the addition of Tom Gretes, this was a natural. John will work closely with MTW President Chuck Richardson on Fundraising and Tom Gretes on player and recruitment issues. Welcome back John! |
Tom has been a fixture in football circles in the GTA for almost 30 years. In four seasons as York's head football coach, Tom Gretes has elevated the profile of the program by guiding the team to four consecutive playoff appearances. Gretes earned OUA Coach of the Year honours in 2002 after leading York to a 5-3 regular season record. The team then went on to host its first-ever home playoff game and record its first playoff victory. In his inaugural season as head coach in 2001, York qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 1997. Gretes served as defensive coordinator for six years with York before adding the head coaching position to his responsibilities. With Gretes as defensive coordinator, York has consistently been among the nation’s best in all defensive categories. Prior to coaching at York, Gretes was the defensive coordinator at Northern Secondary in Toronto, where he collected nine city championships and two Metro Bowls. An assistant coach with the University of Toronto for five years, he helped the Blues capture the Vanier Cup in 1993. As a player, Gretes was a defensive back for Toronto where he graduated in 1981 from the Physical and Health Education program. Off the field, Gretes is an instructor and administrator for the School of Kinesiology and Health Science. Gretes lives in Toronto with his wife Sophie. The couple has two children, George (21 and former QB with the Cats) and Nicole (19). |
Secretary-treasurer & Financial Mike McCormick 10th year with MTW Michael played his high school football at Lawrence Park CI as Left Tackle on Offense and as a DT then DE on Defense. It was at LP that Michael met Chuck, who lead the effort to save the program and rebuilt LP Football to it’s former glory. Thankfully the days of starting a game with 16 players and ending with 10 on the field are over! Michael returned to LPCI as a coach after graduating from Bishop’s University and then LPFAA and later MTW Jr. governor & director. Despite a demanding career in real estate finance and as an entrepreneur Michael still makes time to give back to the program. “It is all about passing on the legacy” he says, “Football helped me stay focused on school, taught me hard work and discipline and allowed me to have amazing experiences like going to the Michigan Wolverine camp. I want to make sure the players today have those same opportunities.” The MTW program now helps players do just that. |
