2010 - NEW
SEASON - NEW
FORMAT
We're on a
new path at
the football
club but
still at the
same
familiar
place at the
corner of
Bathurst and
Finch
football
field.
Rumours from
as far back
as 1999
about
dropping the
weight class
restriction
in our
league have
finally come
to fruition.
North York
fought the
decision for
a long time
but
eventually
were
outnumbered
as change
has come
about fast
within the
entire
league. The
mandate
actually
came down
from the
top-
Football
Canada. So
we're ready
to make the
best of the
decision and
hope that
in 2010 we
will still
have a full
house
with kids
that want to
play
football.
Add to that
the second
change they
have
implemented
upon us. The
name changes
for the age
groups. This
was
initiated in
order to
match the
other
leagues
across
Canada.
And of
course we're
another step
forward at
working
alongside
with the
Metro
Toronto
Wildcats as
our
"Brother"
club and the
obvious next
choice for
our
graduating
Grizzlies.
We will be
known as the
Metro
Toronto
Grizzlies
under the
North York
Minor
Football
Association.
In 2009 we
had our
usual ups
and downs
and of
course the
City strike
provided us
with new
challenges to
overcome and
we learned
how to
maneuver
around
them. All
in all it
was a very
positive
year. We ended
on a high
note as we
were
selected to
host the
COMFL
championship
game weekend
at our home
field and it
was topped
off by
having our
TYKE and
PEEWEE teams
move on to
participate
in the AA
championship
finals. Both
teams
played exceptional
and we
couldn't
have asked
for a better
showing of
some raw
talent.
We're on our
way to a New
beginning at
North York
and look
foward to
another
exciting
season.
