North York Football Players from the past;

 

1. Orville Lee               Running Back   Played Peewee, Bantam  Midget   MVP for his team in each division. Was Top Running Back In The Ontario Midget Football League..

Recruited by several Universities he chose Simon Fraser in Vancouver

Played on a full scholarship for three years.

Graduated with a degree in Physio Therapy

Was No 1 Pick in the CFL draft taken by the Ottawa   Rough Riders

Was the CFL Rookie of the year in 1988         

Was traded to the Regina Roughriders in 1990

Was traded to Toronto Argonauts in 1992

Soon after blew out his knee in practice and retired

Lives in Coquitlam BC with wife and daughter and works as a physiotherapist at Vancouver General Hospital

 

2. Dave Rough             Quarterback   Played Atom  Peewee Bantam Midget. Was named  top players in all his teams.

                                    Recuited By The Laurier Golden Hawks as a Defensive back and Played for four years.

                                    Graduated with a degree in  Commerce and his CMA designation

                                    Is currently controller of Extendicare in Markham and lives in North York with his wife, daughter and son.

                                    Dave came back to NYMFA and coached for 10 years in Atom Peewee and Bantam

 

3. Ted Chadderton       Defensive Lineman and  Centre. Played Atom Peewee bantam and Midget. Was Lineman of the year twice.

                                    Recruited by McGill University, but decided to go to University of Guelph as a walkon. Played for Guelph for three years then moved to Queens University. He was heavily recruite by Queens Football but instead chose to play Rugby. He was MVP his last year.

                                    Graduated with two gegrees, BA (Hons) and LLB. Is currently practicing law in Barrie Ontario where he lives with his wife and two daughters

 

4 Mike  Mandatori       Running Back  Played Atom Peewee and Bantam and was twice voted top running back, Mike suffered an injury in his final year as a Banatam and had to retire from playing. He returned to coach for a number of years including Head Coach of the Atoms.

                                    Mike attended Ryerson College and graduated with and engineering  degree. He owns and manages Uptown Painting Contractors and lives in Thornhill

 

 

5. Ryan Hanson            Running Back Played in the Midget division. A natural back

                                    he won the Rushing title in the Ontario Midget Football Leaque

                                    with 1250 rushing yards in only 6 games. Unfortunately he sustained a knee injury and missed four games.

                                    He attended University of Slippery Rock near Pittsburgh Pennsylvania for three years and Graduated with a degree in Communication.

                                    He was the Number 1 Draft pick in the CFL and was taken by the Vancouver Lions. He played several years for the Lions and won a Grey Cup in 1990.

                                    The next year he was traded to the Toronto Argonauts and retired two years later.

                                    He currently owns and manages a Restaurant and Bar in Toronto.

                                    He is currently living in Scarborough.

 

6 Mike Campbell          Defensive Tackle and Center. Played on the Midget Team . Was voted Top Lineman in the Ontario Midget Football League.

                                    He attended the University of Slippery Rock near Pittsburg and played Defensive End for three years. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration.

                                    He was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts and played Defensive End. He won a Grey Cup in 1991. Two years later he was traded to The Hamilton Tiger Cats and finished his career there. He currently lives in Hamilton and owns and manages a clothing company called First String.

 

7. Nick Mazzoli            Information removed at the request of NIck Mazzoli- Previous information was apparently not factual. North York Football apologizes to Mr Mazzoli for any harm this may have done to his reputation. Information we have comes from coaches who have been with the club in the past who try to remember those who stand out. 8 Sandi Gonzolles         Wide Reciever  played Atom Peewee Bantam  and Midget.Played on  two Championship Bantam Teams and caught the winning touchdown in both Championship games. He went to California where he finhed High School and went on to play three years at California Tech. He was recruited by the San Diego Chargers and

                              spent three years as their Kick Return Specialist.

                               He currently live in California and works for Pepsi

 

9. Rob Edwards           Running Back and Quarterback. Played Atom Peewee Bantam nad Midget. Was MVP two of those years. He went to University of Toronto, but did not play football. He currently lives in Newmarket

                              with his wife and two children

 

10 Steve Chadderton    Centre and Offensive lineman&..Played Atom  Peewee Bantam and Midget. Was named Offensive Lineman of the year three times. He was drafted. By York University and played for two years. Unfortunately he was unable to keep his weight up and had to retire. He graduated from York with his BA Degree. He currently is involved with the Movie Industry in Toronto and runs his own Karaoke business. He lives in Toronto with his wife and son.

 

11. Jimmy Roberts        Quarterback&.Played  Atom  Peewee  Bantam  and Collegiate,

                                    Voted  MVP in Atom and has won other awards.  He was recruited by, University of Western Ontario, Queens and McGill and has chosen to go to Western next year

 

12. Danny Therian      Middle Linebacker, played Atoim Peewee and Bantam. Was the captain of every team he played for. Was MVP in his first year as a Peewee. He went on to Community College and graduated with a business degree. He currently manages a major sports store in Toronto and lives with his wife and son in Thornhill.

 

13 Richard Andrews     Quarterback  &played Atom  Peewee and Bantam&Twice led his team to the Bantam Championship. Was a good play caller and excellent passer. Did not play University ball, but graduated from

                              the UofT in business. Currently works for Coca Cola and lives in North York.

 

14. Frank Magdich       Running Back..played  Peewee and Bantam. First bantam player in North York to gain over 1000 yds in one season. Was recruited by McGill University and played Halfback. At the same time was recruited  by the Canadian Rugby Team and competed for Canada all over the world. He graduated as a MD and is currently at Montreal General Hospital.

 

15 Arnie Wilson           Wide Receiver&played  Atpm Peewee and Bantam. Was MVP one year and leading receiver in two other years. Was recruited by Western University and played four years. In his last year he was voted as an OUA Allstar. Graduated with a business degree and is currently living and working in London Ont

 

 

 

16 Jamall Hyman        Running Back&has played 3 years as a Tyke , 2 years as an Atom and is now in his second year as a peewee.w in his second year as an Atom. His running style has  been compared to that of the great Barry Sanders who played for the Detroit Lions. His favourite number is 5 for reggie Bush.

                             His nick name is Little Barry. If he continues to develop he is a sure bet for the NFL.

 

17 Todd Sewell            Quarterback,Running back and Middle Linebacker&He could play anywhere&he played Atom  Peewee Bantam and Midget. He went on to play for York University, but a knee injury ended his playing career. He returned to North York and coached for many years. He also served as a Referee for a few years, He graduated from York and was a partner in a trucking firm until his untimely death in a trucking accident. The North York Football Coach of the Year award is presented in his memory each year.
